Jenny Rushmore, the founder of Cashmerette, embarked on her sewing journey out of frustration with the lack of clothing options for her plus-size, curvy body. Learning to sew at the age of 30, she was excited about the potential to create clothes that not only fit but also reflected her bold, print-loving style. However, she encountered the same sizing issues she faced with store-bought clothes. With two parents who were entrepreneurs, Jenny knew she wanted to get out of the corporate world and eventually own her own business.
Undeterred, Jenny delved into the art of altering patterns, leading to a life-changing revelation – she could tailor her clothes to fit her body, rather than conforming her body to fit clothes. This realization became the foundation of Cashmerette.
At Cashmerette, Jenny has created a haven with patterns, books, and workshops, offering the resources she wished had existed when she first learned to sew. Her life's mission revolves around empowering individuals to embrace their unique shapes and sizes, redefining the relationship between clothing and the body.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Jenny resides just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, with her daughter. Originally hailing from the UK, she still retains her distinctive accent and is well-acquainted with the British Airways Boston-London flight schedules. In her moments of leisure, she finds joy in drawing, painting, and experimenting with elaborate culinary creations. Jenny's journey continues, and she's grateful for everyone joining her on this remarkable ride.
